  1. Several people have given you the number.  But be aware you might have a problem getting through at all, or will likely be on hold for close to an hour, since so many people are calling, many about confusion over the stimulus checks.

  2. 1-800-829-1040 is the general number, but there are many others as well. If you received a notice of some sort, call the number on the notice. If you have a question about your indidvidual account or need information relating to your account, call 1-800-829-0922. If you have a question concerning the economic stimulus payment, call 1-800-829-0582, extension 726.

    Call volumes are extremely high due to the stimulus payments. If you're calling about the latter, the lines will be open this Saturday from 10 - 3.
