What is the ACT?

Do UC schools look at it? Could somebody please explain what it is and thorougly explain what's so important about it?

  1. The ACT is an exam you take to determine academic performance; it's basically the equivalent of the SAT.

    The ACT is more popular in the midwest versus the eastern and western part of the United States. It's shorter than the SAT, and asks questions that are more high school based rather than college based.

  2. its just an alternative to the SAT. some people choose to take both like i did. its basically 5 sections and focuses mostly on stuff on your curriculum and not college bound stuff like the SAT which is 10 sections!!

The ACT is a test you take usually when you're a junior in high school.  You get a score that colleges use to determine whether you are smart enough to attend their school.  Some people take the SAT instead, but a lot of it is regional.  Where I live, everyone takes the ACT and only 1 person in my graduating class took the SAT.  I live in the midwest btw.
