  1. An Arab Princess would be known as Ameera  which is the Arabic word for Princess. So Princess Haya of Jordan is Ameera Haya bint Al Hussein. However, in the Gulf, which consists mainly of Sheikhdoms or Emirates, a Princess is generally known by the term Sheikha. This is the female version of Sheikh. However, to use Princess Haya as an example again, although she is married to a Sheikh, her "Royal Highness"  title trumps his (he is only a Highness) and so she continues to be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Haya. In Oman, which is a Sultanate, the royal women are known as Sayyida.
