What is the Army Command Sponsorship Program?

My husband is in AIT and he's already received his orders to go to Korea. He says he could either go for one year and our daughter and I wouldn't be able to go or he could go for two years on a Command Sponsorship and we would be able to then.

  1. I have no clue, but hey, you get to be with your husband, and if thats really what you want, then you got it!!! They'd probably ship you to a community of other families stuck in your situation so at least you'll have other fellow Americans there. Thats just me guessing though, but I'm pretty sure thats how it will work.

Down side is you'll be in a totally different country.

  2. Depends on his assignment. See the website below.

  3. command sponsorship means his command agrees to be legally, medically, financially and morally responsible for dependents while living in a Foreign Country.  if you go over without CS, you will be  subject to Korea's laws as a tourist, and NOT given the protection of the Status Of Forces Agreement nor will you have access to certain  areas..such as medical.. you would be Space A and not Prime.   No COLA for you or the kids, only him.   not allowed to live in base housing, only out in town.  he may or may NOT be able to get OHA if you come over NCS.  No ration card, meaning you can't buy certain items, only he could.

Not everybody gets command sponsorship, especially to Korea.  he needs to request it and you all must pass an overseas screening .
