On St. Thomas Day, you put your left leg in first and sleep with your head at the foot and your foot at the head. And in your dreams you'll see your future spouse...

You have to say a German saying beofre it though.....

Does anyone know the saying?

  1. most of these pagan rituals to dream of a future spouse take place on st.andrew's eve (november 30), not on st. thomas day. pick up any wiccan calender or how-to book, and i'm sure there are "spells" on what to say. most likely it will rhyme. st. thomas day (december 21) is the first of the 3 "Rauchnaechte", meaning smoke nights, where the house & stables are purified with incense & holy water. the other 2 nights are christmas eve, and new years eve. on st. thomas day the godmother, or godfather traditionally gift the god children with "Stollen", a type of fruitcake. there is an old custom where an unmarried female stands with her back to the doorway, and throws one show over her left shoulder. if the toes point in the direction of the door, she will (supposedly) leave the house (to marry).
