Best book: "Nine Innings" by Daniel Okrent. A whole book about one single game (it was like Game 5 in Ripken's streak). Just a great book that really explains everything that is going on in a game from the perspective of a passionate baseball fan. Honorable mention: "The Glory of Their Times", by Lawrence Ritter and "The Lords of the Realm" by John Helyar

Best movie: Bull Durham, Field of Dreams (it still gets me every time he plays catch with his dad)

The best fiction baseball book is the Natural. It epitomizes the mythology of baseball. I would have to say the Natural is the best baseball movie, for the same reason.
