  1. It is all relative to the individual, I went to Nui Maynooth, many snobs would say it is not a good college but we do have a nobel prize winner(john hume) on our alumlni and the induction coil was invented in the college, it is a very important in modern electronics, Nuim has a great campus with societies that are visible and proactive, and is the second oldest university in ireland 1795.

I have also studied at UCD and found it very big and not very friendly place in fact rag week was on there and I dident even notice, the student union are invisible and not very active and the smell of fake tan is overpowering(joke), you will also find yourself wearing ugg boots there for no apparant reason(joke)

I also attended NUI Galway, Galway is a student city and it is similar on activities to NUI maynooth, Rag week is great fun there as with NUIM, it is the highlight of the year and a good students union are always visible with many proactive socities

  2. Absolutely depends on what you want.  Law - Trinity or UCD.  Medicine  - Royal College of Surgeons.  Sciences - UCD or UL.

Reword the question and even be specific as to what branch or a subject e.g. instead of just science is it environmental science, microbiology, chemical sciences.  From hearing about  US students coming over it is very different and believe me when I say that they grade very tough in any Irish school.  If you are pulling A's in a high level course in Ireland your pretty freakin smart.

  3. If you could say what kind of course you're looking for it would help because certain colleges are best for certain things.

Trinity-Probably the best college in the country, though the points for most courses are higher than other colleges. It's in the middle of Dublin City. In my opinion,it's a little snobbish but the courses are prob the best!

UCD-one of the best! it's got 26,000 students so it's like a town in itself. It's especially good for Arts/humanties courses or Medical areas. It's also got a great social scene.

UCC-Best outside Dublin probably, like 17,000 I think so quite big too. Really good for medical again, especially nursing and good for all science courses.

    DCU-Best,I think,for science courses.

    DIT-Best for architecture and sciences.

UL-Great social college, really nice campus! It's also one of the best.

    Hope that helps!

  4. Im not sure.....all i can say is that i am a student at UCC and they some excellent degrees on offer and i find the college very good!!!

  5. TRINITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. They're all on a state system, but I suppose it depends on what you want to study. Be aware that the education system is not the same as in the US, you cannot take a class here and a class there - once you're in science or law or medicine, you have to transfer and it's a lengthy process. You choose your degree subject in first year and you stick with it.
