  1. Either look for a used one that is good quality ( they knew how to make 'em back then!) Or try www.westernshop.com, it is located in Alberta,Canada, and man do these people know how to make a saddle! Gorgeous, excellent quality, not bad prices (around $1000....) Or try searching Pozzi Saddlery (these start around $2500...so fairly expensive....) Also Raylee Edwards has a fairly new line of saddles out...I've heard these are good quality & have an excellent design...or try a Martha Josey designed saddle, genius layouts for these saddles! These women know how to design them!!

  2. I think it's all just personal preference.

I don't look so much for a certain brand or maker, but the fit and style is more important to me.

  3. i gota super old used one at a little rinky dink shop and i love it eventho its like 20 years old they made em better then, get an old one lol

  4. its hard to say which one is best.

im using a Martha Josey Ultimate Barrel Saddle, but its a couple years old. im looking to buy this one. its a little pricey but its worth it -

something light weight, under 30 pounds.

i like the saddles with a C skirt. its less weight and comfy.

something with a nice horn to hold those turns, & a back cinch is important too along with a breast collar.

a close feeling seat that has flexible stirrups and a soft seat.

its also has to fit the horse comfortably. custom made saddles are possible but something soft and easy on the horses back is good.

watch for prizes and quality, u dont wanna pay a lot of cash for a crappy saddle but then again u could pay nothing and get something perfect.

i think its best to follow the professionals like Charmayne James , Martha Josey, ect. most of them have tried their best to design great barrel saddles for horse and rider.

  5. an expensive one just go on google and look up barrel saddles and go into the thousands those are the best
