I would stay away from Bose, and if your not extremely rich i would have to say Denon receiver and a nice set of Definitive Technology speakers, or some a set of Klipsh Reference. All found at your nearest Best Buy/ Magnolia

Ok - apologies if I annoyed you - but we get a lot of juvies around here trying to cause problems.

Different companies have different strengths.  Here, in my opinion, are the better ones:

RECEIVERS:  Yamaha, Dennon, Onkyo

Sony makes an "ES" line that is good, and Pioneer makes an "Elite" line that is good.

DVD PLAYERS: Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba

TELEVISIONS:   Sony, Pioneer are the big names.

Samsung and Sharp "Aquous" line are pretty good for a good bit less money.

SPEAKERS:

(This is the tricky part because there are so many good speakers.)

Avoid Sony, Yamaha, Pioneer, Samsung, Phillips speakers.  These are companies that put their name on so-so speakers just to include them in 'systems'.

Listen to speakers from companies that mainly make speakers. This includes Energy, Polk, B&W, Definitive Technology, Klipsch, Boston, ... (lots of choices)

SUBWOOFERS: (Yes, some companies do better with these than others)

SVS, HSU Research, Velodyne are some of the best names.  The first 2 companies sell over the internet and are well respected for great sound at lower prices than retail.

they make the best blue ray player and

they make the best plasma's flat panel

SVS   they make the best subwoofers

Runco.  The projectors are extremely expensive but worth it becuase mine automaticly converts everything into HD and they also make bigger screens.

I like Onkyo or yamaha receivers and Klipsch, JBL, Definive tech for speakers.

Try Monitor Audio Silver series speaker pakage and match it with a good receiver. Kef is also worth trying.

Bose is the best made speaker on the market today.  Nothing comes close.  Extremely pricey, but you pay for you get.

Receiver NAD. You get true power output to all channels at all ohm ratings. What do you want to spend? Do alot of research. Get a stereo magazine and start reading. Thats what I did. I use sound and vision mag. web sight forum. Very good people there with vast knowledge of home theater equipment. Remember when purchasing good equipment test run first. Have a good salesman who helps you with there knowledge. Some dont have a clue. Check on reviews on the products you want to know about.
