  1. viscious viscious monkey beats

  2. agreed, boxing...

to katana - i hate when people say its not a martial art...why else does every MMA fighter train and spar with boxing then?

  3. If you don't like kicking, have you considered boxing?

This will increase fitness, strength and involves a lot of punching.

Addition: What do you think boxing is? It's not just throwing fists, there is a lot of technique involved in all strikes in boxing (jab, hook, uppercut etc). It's not easy even throwing a good jab, it takes a h**l of a lot of practice to get it to a good standard.

With your additional information, perhaps kick-boxing would be more suitable. But if you want to learn how best to punch, get down to a boxing gym.

  4. Ju Jitzu

  5. Depends from what region you prefer and what use their is

for instance hung gar was made for close quarters combat and was established to use strong stances for fighting in rice fields.

I practice Ba Gwa or circle walking as well as muay thai.

I would suggest tai chi chuan it is relaxing and its forms and stances are flowing.

I would also suggest north shoalin style. It was invented by a monk that sought to help his brothers keep healthy and more in tune with the higher powers of their own bodies, after seeing that the monks were lazy and regulary sick.

their is also krav maga, I dont know the specifics besides its used by , I think, the Israeli army.

    hope you the best

  6. As mentioned already "boxing"..or if you want something a bit more exotic consider "wing chun" or "wing tsun" Otherwise I go with boxing.

  7. If you want mainly punching I would suggest boxing(yes it is a martial art).

Edit- the reason many people say that boxing is not a martial art is just ignorance. i would hazard a guess that most of the top contributers in martial arts will tell you it is. Boxing can be just as deadly as anything else, especially once the gloves are off.

  8. Kenpo

  9. depends on the reasons you want to learn ma.and yes boxing is a martial art.its a fighting style of ma such as muay thai and bjj.they are designed to be used in a ring with a referee, they are not designed for self defence on the street.in saying that though any form of martial arts will give you an advantage over the average joe on the street due to being able to throw a punch properley and your physical fitness.also the mental ability of a trained fighter or self defence practioner will give you a huge advantage over most ppl.

i suggest you try boxing, muay thai or freestyle karate.just take this into consideration-

    boxing-2 weapons.

    muay thai-9 weapons

karate-as many as you know how to use.

  10. Try a Southern Shaolin Kung Fu style. Choy Li Fut and Hung Gar are great styles for using the arms. Also, you should really consider Wing Chun since it believes that kicks shjould stay low and arent needed as much as fists. Wing Chun is very dynamic when it comes to punching. Also, boxing is something you should consider too. Karate is also a style with an emphasis on punching

  11. Boxing would probably be the best for you. It's probably the best western martial art.

If for some reason you get into a fight without gloves, be careful how you punch. Gloves were invented to protect your hands and wrists. Lots of boxers who get into street fights tend to break their hand because there is no protection. They punch too hard.
