  1. I personally love the restaurant Sassafraz, in the Toronto neighbourhood of Yorkville. It's a very posh setting, and the food is phenominal. Their menu is very vast, pastas, steaks, seafood, and everything in between. For special occasions, I usually pick it. <www.sassafraz.ca> .

Another good restaurant, if you want primarily steak and seafood would be The Keg. They have many locations, and I've never eaten at one that wasn't perfect. The service is always great, and the food is even better.  <www.kegsteakhouse.com>

    Enjoy!

  2. In Mississauga you can go to "Ten" which is on Lakeshore Road and Hurontario and along that strip there is also a great Italian place called "Lago".  For steaks go to La Castille on Dundas St. West near Hwy 427.

  3. Your grad mela has to be at Mistura resto...., popular chef from italy, on Restaurant Makeover show often...is truly 1 of the better chefs in this city.   Menu is northern italian, including kobe steak!...i cant say enough of the quality here..., and although a little pricey, worth every penny.

Also, in a quiet area on Avenue n Davenport.

    Enjoy!

  4. Ruth Chris Steak House is the best

  5. My student group and I went to a place called the "Bungalow Cafe".  It was really, nice, elegant atmosphere.  The food was decent, but a bit expensive.  the location is on the King St. line, between Strachan and Stafford.  Look it up on maps.google.com.  It's pretty decent place.  Also!  If your into sushi at all (yumm!), check out Ichiban Sushi at Wellington (same line where you would go to the Rainbow Cinemas at the market square).  Very delicious!

  6. The best Restaurant in Toronto, wow , extremely tough question. There are so many different styles and price ranges. If you are looking for the very best in Toronto as far as fine dining there are too many choices. Perigee, Susur, Canoe, North 44, and Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar are all amazing. Splendido was rated number 10 on best restaurants in North America just recently. Only one in Canada that made it to the top 40. Now these are extremely expensive and very fancy which might not be what you want necessarily, I can only afford to go to one of these once or twice a year. If you want an amazing steak in Mississauga, Ruth's Chris is pretty fantastic and usually very nice, there is also one downtown TO. I recommend the Filet and the creme brulee, sooo good. If you want amazing seafood go to Starfish in Toronto. Now if you want great italian I recommend Terroni which is not overly expensive and they have the best rated gourmet pizza and fresh pasta in town. One of my favs in yorkville is Yamato http://yamato.sites.toronto.com/ dont let the crappy website fool you, it is a great place where the chefs cook right in front of you. I recommend the fried rice and steak and seafood for everyone. Eat with your chopsticks and enjoy the cultural experience. Their steak and seafood are fabulous. It is something that is memorable and its also in a nice area of town so no worries for those coming in from suburbs. Congrats!

  7. Seafood-wise, I would check out Mortons.  They have an incredibly seafood platter that's to die for.  The only problem with Morton's is that it is incredibly expensive so beware.

I woudl also check out Colossus.  It's greek food, but that have some excellent seafood and lamb.  It's got a great atomsphere and friendly staff.  The prices are also very reasonable.  There also have some incredibly appetizers and deserts that you can share.  I would definitely check it out.  There's one on Lakeshore in the port credit area, and one also on Lakeshore in Oakville.

If you have any questions about their menu, let me know, been there over 50 times.

  8. So many great restos in Toronto.

In the west end I'd try Karuchie on College (at Dovercourt). It's always fantastic and the servers are great.

Another sure fire thing to do would be to go to just about any little place on Harbord near Spadina. 93 Harbord is great, Tati is a new French place, Harbord Room is brand new and was just given four Ns in Now Magazine. And there is Splendido like someone else here hs mentioned.

  9. For steak try Barbarian's, Tom Jones, Hy's or Morton's

Italian I'd go with Scaramouche, Spuntini or Coppi

  10. the best steaks in toronto are at carmen's and at harbour 60

  11. There's a wee place on the west side of BrownsLine just south of Horner called Il Paesano. They were there when I moved into the neighbourhood in 1977 and the same family still owns the place. You can call them at 4162517080. They have a cute little dining room or you can pick up. They even deliver locally. I guess I should mention it's Italian.

    Congrats on graduating.
