  1. What Bekki said is good... a waterless shampoo, but you can also get a wet paper towel (and put a little kitty shampoo on it) and sponge bathe him.

Cats normally should keep themselves clean though... what did he get into? ^_-

  2. take it to petsmart?

Fill two tubs up with warm (not hot) water, make sure the kitty's toes touch the bottom and his head is never under water. Dip kitty in the first one and rub water over his back.  Remove from water, apply shampoo (cat shampoo).  Try to hold him still as long as the shampoo needs to sit. Put him back in tub 1 and rinse.  Move him to tub 2 and rinse again.  Make sure all shampoo is off him and never get any in his face or ears.

Try to dry him with a towel or two.  Give him cat treats whenever he stops hiding. Tend to you injuries, which will hopefully be minor.

Make sure a bath is really necessary.  Even when I've brought in stray kitties they get themselves clean within days.  I have 6 cats and have given 2 bathes in the last 7 years.  One was probably avoidable and the other was for a kitten who was infested with fleas and too young to be treated for them.  But the cats I had growing had really long fur and needed a bath about once every two years when they were older. We used that tub method and it worked well for them.

  3. Ummm not really sure but we had 2 give my cats a tick bath and we didnt just put them in a tub my mom held her and i just would take a cup and slowely poor water on her. it was kind of hard since cats dont like water but we got it done really good.

  4. When I was growing up my parents ran a stray cat shelter. We often had to give the cats flea baths, and I can tell you that giving a half-wild cat a bath is no laughing matter!!

If you absolutely MUST give the cat a bath, and you can't just clean it with a wet cloth, my suggestion for keeping it's claws out of you is to do what my mother used to do. She would put the screen from a window in the tub so when the cat's claws all came out, it would hook itself onto the wire of the screen. They tend to get stuck then, and you can often quickly finish the bath before they have a chance to get you.

She still got badly scratched a lot though, so I'd suggest exploring the possibility of just washing the dirty areas with a cloth instead, if it's at all possible.

    Good luck!

  5. Try a waterless shampoo.  Most pet stores carry them, and I know Walmart does too.

  6. My advice is take him to a groomer or a vet!

  7. cats clean themselves they dont need baths
