  1. I suppose how its easily accessible nowadays than it used to be say 10 years ago via internet, tv etc

Gloryhunters. When i used to live in London 10 years ago i could enjoy a game, chant with the fans and support my team properly. The last time i went back to London was in 06 and you simply can't feel that buzz anymore. Unless you're sitting in the Matthew Harding stand or the Shed End you will almost(ok maybe only sometimes) always be seated near or next to an Asian or American tourist that spends most of the time taking photos during the whole game.

I suppose that might not be the WORST thing, but it's just those type of things that really stand out especially when you're a Chelsea supporter from pre-2003

  2. 1) The speed and skill of the game has increased tenfold.

    2) Worse is the modernization of our sport into a global marketing money making machine for the fat goats sitting in the Fifa boardroom and of many of the private club's ones (yes, including some in Milan, im not criticizing others only).

This thing we call Modern Football is a desiese that is eating away at football. We see divers, cheaters, unloyal players, fans that "go to see a game only if their team is doing well in the League", TV deals, players who earn in half a year what I earn in 10 of mine, etc

Have a great day Dame ;)

  3. Best :  Speed and skills

Worst : Players being injured just falling down.

  4. Great question

Best : The quality of the game today, years going back 1998 and 1997 the game was not as fast as it is today, the pace yep thats right. It has become much more entertaining.

Worst : The money ruining football, every year we go back there is something to be seen. Clubs managed with small amount of budgets and wise spending which made it very exciting on the other hand but now it has become very easy to 'buy' a trophy. Example - Chelsea, Tottenham, etc

  5. 1. Broadcasting... I can watch almost every game that I wish now!!!

    2. The gap between the rich clubs and the rest is to big now, if any big club wants a player from a lower club they will get him 100%, because of that the clubs that don't have rich owners can't develop, imagine if all players that came from French league stayed at their clubs!!!!

  6. I'm Australian, living in Brisbane.  May I contribute?

    Rugby League is my game.

Best things...TV coverage, speed and skills of the players.

Worst things...Video ref, rule changes (some), and worst of all, club LOYALTY has gone out the window. Many players are loyal only to those who pay the most money.

    Thank you.

PS..Well done GB for your wonderful effort at the Olympics.

  7. For best I think it's a draw between the abundance of quality players from all over and the increased ability to watch matches or get scores from all over the world. I was very young when I was introduced to football (like many) and I didn't have the wealth of resources that we do now. I used to have to ask family members about goings-on...

Now I can watch games from my home or head to the pub and enjoy the atmosphere with supporters. Not to mention getting cell phone updates.

As far as the worst, it's a business and some shady things happen and more often than not you can feel that as a fan you are caste aside while you watch your club or other clubs make questionable decisions. We needn't look further than this summer to know how agrivating the business can be.

  8. 1 financial revenue-as it's generated more big star names to league

2 financial revenue as it's generated more big star names, but in process has stopped a lot of young talent coming through from club junior level.

  9. Q1...Can't think of anything better in football these days to be honest.

    Q2...Worse things....Now your talking....

1..The games used to last 90 minutes, they now last well over 93-97minutes cause of all the time wasting

2...Falling over at the slightest touch, pretending to be injured.

3...No respect at all to the officials....

    4...The ridiculous wages

5...The even more ridiculous transfer fees.

6...The ammout of foreigners in the english leagues.

7...The supposedly biggest game on the planet but the money game still wont use video refs like every other major sport.

8...It used to be called the beautiful game, nowadays it's called the money game.

9...(this is for the english)A national team who since 1966 have promised so much, but delivered absolutely nothing, and this trend doesn't look like it's gonna change for a very long time.

  10. Best- broadcasting, diversity and the fact that it become a bit more popular year after year!

Worst- the fact that we dunt have technology involved into it perhaps video refereeing..

    thanks u too!

  11. carolyn i like nicks answer, and the more i see of his answers the more i think i'm schizophrenic, i may indeed have two log-ins and i have a touch of the Alzheimer's so i can't remember.

    nick says it all.

  12. Best? Depending on the team you watch, it is more entertaining than some football from the past.

Injuries have better recovery times due to new medical tech

    Wenger

Worst? Due to Chelsea and Real Madrid, player prices have gone way through the roof for players that are mediocre at best. And due to that many other players try taking advantage of this new average and try getting their own clubs to pay them more or they leave.

Coaches get dropped and barely get a chance sometimes to prove themselves. Or clubs set their standards way too high and sack a manager the first time he fails.

Referees can make some horrible calls.

    * years ago = before '94

  13. 1. has to be BROADCASTING. you can always find game on t.v!

    2. definetly COST OF PLAYERS. it is very frustrating how rich teams buy there way up the league. e.g. chelsea. they have bought as many good players as they can, like deco or boswinga. they are trying to buy robinho. you get the point! other teams in the league produce the good players and then them players leave that team for money(from the big teams).  i think they should all have to stick to there contracts and then leave from then.

anyway thank you for the question!

    =]

    have a star

  14. Q1. The best thing is being able to see the games be it online or on cable or something the games are broad-casted anywheres so fans all over can see that's definitely a huge plus

Q2. THE CHEATING!!!! Diving, Shirt Tugging, sportsman like conduct of some players, disrespect to the officials are the things i hate and it can be a waste of time.

you have a wonderful day also hope u finish behind be in the FFPL :-))

  15. Best: The accessibility, due to increased TV and the Internet, means somebody like me who two years ago knew nothing about the game beyond high school play can see what it's all about and see that the game really is as good as all those people said it is.

Worst: Man U.  Did they have any fans before 1993?

  16. 1. Talent, A lot more talent now.

    2. Some footballer don't fight enough for the shirt they wear, even in National teams, some just don't seem to have the drive

  17. 1) The best thing about football now is that the game, be it any international tournament or any popular domestic league, is easily accessible in any part of the world, which wasn't the case some 20 or 30 years ago.

    2) The worst thing is that some players play for just cash. They underperform despite getting millions of pounds every year, not just through playing but also through sponsorships and endorsements.

  18. The best thing is the media coverage as you can watch every game now and also getting rid of the backpass rule as the game is more fluent.

the worse thing is the way the grounds are so clinical.

Back in the day (for me since the early 80's) Football grounds were somewhere that you could let yourself go rant and rave, stand up, have a cig (if you smoked) have a beer and generaly be yourself. Now its way too policed (in the stewarding sense) and its as though its all sit down be quiet watch the match and go home do not pass go do not collect £200.

Its a shame really as i do miss the way that it was but hey thats progress i suppose and something that we have to accept as it will never return to the way it was.

@real talking hmmm how much do YOU know?
