What is the Best computer company/hardware to buy?

I want a computer that will run a few programs at the same time without getting two crazy, something fast enough where it wont distract me. what is the best computer for me. I want a desktop. which processors are the best AMD or Celeron. how much memory do you really need. dell, HP or other? wuld it be best to make it on a website or go to bestbuy or another store, if so which store. im looking for something fairly affordable here nothing to crazy. thanks for the advice.

  1. Your best bet would be to get the fastest Dual-Core processor that you can afford and the most RAM that you can afford (at least 2GBs of RAM). Personally, I'd pick the AMD over the Celeron. Pentium and above in the Intel line is okay. Here's one, add the extra RAM though. About $345.

    (For 500 you get - 2.8 Dual Core CPU  

                                  -4GB Memory   (you need the 4gb)

                                  -400GB Hard Drive

    Buy a fast computer with no video card and you have a good PC for years.

  3. I think the best thing for you at this point is an ASUS EEE Box - it costs about 350 bucks and comes with a 1.6ghz Intel Atom processor, up to 1GB of RAM, 80 gigabyte hard drive and Windows XP.

    PS. Never buy from a store - they're almost always overpriced in comparison to internet shopping.
