There isn't one.  The scientists will say that there is some chemical process for consciousness, but they have not made that connection definitively.  The basis for consciousness is the soul.  The energy of the soul is spread over the entire body and is symptomized by consciousness.

I know there is a strong connection. Our bodies are made up of a lot of energy.  While I cannot give you a direct answer, I would suggest you look into energy healing. I know many people who think this is a valid way to heal. healing energies from one to another. I have had some experience but my personal experience isn't the answer here.

The basis is strong because we are biological, electrical,energy based, physiological kinesthetic people. We have gone a step beyond animals but not as far as we can go.
