  1. Bettas ARE a breed of fish there isnt any other breed

  2. There are many species of Betta. The fancy one in pet stores is a Betta splenden, wild type splendens are shortfinned and red/green in colour, and quite peaceful.

Occasionally you may see splenden/imbellis hybrids if you have a good quality aquatics store near by. And other species are available privately through breeders if you ask around through betta forums.

  3. i dont know

  4. i hate the jonas brothers. sorry just sharing

  5. Most pet stores have betta splendens, and specifically the "veiltail" betta variety.  They should cost between three and six dollars each.

You can learn more about betta tails here:  http://www.bettatalk.com/betta_finnage.h...

Edit:  Yes, there are different types of betta.  The word "betta" is the genus, and there are a lot of different species.  "Splendens" is the one we raise as breeders, but there are also enisae, smaragdina, and betta akarensis, and betta pugnax.  They are very different from betta splendens in appearance.
