Check your airfares in advance, and book at least two weeks ahead of time.  Late summer is cheapest due to heat and hurricanes.  For you to get the cheapest airfare, I'd rive to Atlanta and fly from there.

Here is a link I use every week......you can set up alerts too.....as it gets nearer to the travel dates prices have been going down......so if you book a month a head sometimes it is cheaper a week before!!!!
