  2. The Cathedral Notre-Dame de Chartres was built at the beginning of the thirteenth century, after the previous cathedral was ruined by a fire. It's located in Chartres, about 95 km south-west of Paris and is regarded as one of the most perfect gothic building. The Cathedral is famous for its stained glass windows ( http://www.vitraux-chartres.fr/ ) and its rose-window is one of the greatest in the world. It's also a place of pelgrimage on the road to Saint Jacques-de-Compostelle. In addition, there is an important relic still kept in Chartres, the veil that the Virgin wore on the day of the Annunciation.

  3. That's what Wikipedia is for. ;-)  Someone already gave you teh French link, but the English one is also available: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathedral_o...
