  1. From http://www.planecrashinfo.com/rates.htm :

"If a passenger boarded a flight at random, once a day, everyday, it would statistically be over 21,000 years before he or she would be killed."

    From http://www.planecrashinfo.com/cause.htm

Odds of being on an airline flight which results in at least one fatality

Top 25 airlines with the best records

    1 in 6.06 million

Bottom 25 with the worst records

    1 in 546,011

If you took 1 flight every day, for 20 years,

7300 flights, (which is more than flight attendants do fly),

then the chances of being in a crash on a "good" airline

    would still only be 1 in 830.  0.12 % (1/8 of 1 percent)

With a "bad" airline, it goes up to 1 in 75,

or 1.3 % ... still pretty good odds.

(and I imagine this includes some rather dicey countries)

  2. If you flew several times a day, every day, chances are that you would be in a plane crash ... after about 5000 years.
