they say hi but not hi as in hello like hi as in some weird asian way

I have no idea. But most of the wightlifting athletes shout/yell some words before taking the heavy stuff. I guess it is a mental thing that help them to be more confidence.

I asked my Chinese friends and they said that it is a little hard to understand, but, they think she is saying come on, you can do it, or something like that
