  1. 老师 (lǎo shī) is for teachers or professors. 老师 literally means "experienced master."

    So, say my teacher's last/family name was 番 (pān). I want to ask a question:

    "番老师! 我有问题! (pān lǎo shī! wǒ yǒu wèn tí)!"

    (Teacher! I have a question!)

    师傅 (shī fu) is for martial arts instructors. 师傅 literally means "specialist tutor."

    Say my instructor's last/family name was 武 (wǔ) and I wanted to get his/her attention:

    "武师傅 (wǔ shī fu)!"

    (Master Wu!)

  2. martial art instructor --> s**+ fu 师傅

    teacher --> lao s**+ 老师
