Last I heard the ozone was on the mend and was doing so at a faster rate than scientists had earlier predicted.

The hole down south will continue to open and close while Mount Erebus stays active spewing tons of chlorine into the atmosphere.

Certain Cloro-FloroCarbons (refrigerants, like R-12) are completely illegal, and (in the US) you need a licencse to handle the rest (work on air conditioners).  This helps the ozone greatly, because these chemicals were damaging the ozone layer.

Al Gore considers it an example of how we *could* stop global warming.
