I'm not looking into the question historically or anything, but I looked scouts up on wikipedia it showed Scouting and Boy scouts, and it got me really confused. Like, what are the differences between the groups?

  1. The Atlantic ocean. Seriously, scouting is scouting, be it Cub scouts or Explorer--once a scout, always a scout.

  2. Hello Anna:

Other than some small logistical differences, the programs are similar. However, BP Scouts are Co-ed at all levels, whereas the BSA is male-only up to the age of 14.

BSA units (packs. troops, crews, etc.) are chartered ("owned by") individual entities like churches and civic clubs. BP units are part of a larger network and are supported by their communities with a centralized meeting hall. All levels use the same facility. BSA units meet at their charter organization, and different age groups may not meet at the same facility.

    Keep on Scoutin'

  3. Baden -Powell refers to Lord Baden-Powell who founded Boy Scouts of America  and sometimes his sister Juliette Gordon Lowe (Daisy) who founded Girl Scouts in the USA and Girl Guides in England. There is a lot of confusion with the word scout because it is non specific. There are other "scout" organizations that have nothing to do with Boy Scouts of America or Girl Scouts.
