  1. you have all of the pads normal in football. then im rugby you can wear shin gaurds but not many do, then a mouth peice, and you can wear shock tops(like under armour with thin padding to take in shock from tackels) but it really doesnt help that much, there is the same thing for under your shorts for your thighs, and most common is a scrum cap. it takes in shock and helps with concusions and lacerations of your ears. personally they are more annoying then helpful and they sort of look like the old leather caps of like 1910 football

  2. football has pads and helmets etc. and rugby has nothing but boots aand a uniform

  3. American football: http://www.fabqb.com/football/FootbalEqu...

    Rugby: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_un...

In rugby, protection must be soft and is only 10mm thich for the shoulders and Head

    Sternum/rib protection is only 5mm

It doesn't do a lot really, but does make recovery times a bit quicker

  4. See what my man Burton said...he's pretty much spot on (except I think he's talking about futbol, not American football like I assume you're talking about in your Q).

American Football players will wear a helmet, shoulder pads, thigh boards, *** pad, knee pads, flack jackets, gloves, mouthguards, and shoes.  Rugby, it's pretty much boots and a mouthguard (although a good number of locks wear scrum caps and some backs I know wear shoulder/ribcage/sternum protection).
