  1. Brother Abdul Harith, Salat-al-hajah is correct.

If a person is in need whether he wants to get something from Allah or from person he can pray the Salatul-Hajah (prayer of need). This is the opinion of the four schools of Fiqh for the Hadith that the Prophet said: "If any one wants something from Allah, or from a human being, he should perform ablution and do it well, then pray two Rak'ahs then extol Allah Most High and invoke blessing on the Prophet, then say:

"There is no god but Allah, the Clement and Generous. Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the mighty throne. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the universe. I ask Thee for words which will guarantee Thy mercy, actions which will make certain Thy forgiveness, a supply of every virtue, and freedom from every offence. Do not leave me a sin which Thou do not pardon, a care which Thou do not remove, or a want that meets with Thy pleasure which Thou do not supply, O Most Merciful of the merciful ones". This is narrated from Imam Tirmizi and Ibn Majah.

All the scholars and Mufti all approve it.its almost like a Nafil prayer, what matters is the intention and dua.~!

  2. I was under the impression that there are no specific Dua's? I may be wrong.

  3. Question: I have heard about the "prayer of need" (Salaat al-Haajah) and the "prayer for memorising the Qur.aan". Are these actual prayers or not?

Response: Both of them are not correct. There is no such thing as "prayer of need" or "prayer for memorising the Qur.aan." This is because these kinds of acts of worship can only be confirmed through legal evidences. Neither of these have any evidences for them that can be considered proofs and acceptable in Islaamic Law. Therefore, they are not sanctioned by Islaamic law.

  4. "La ilaha illallahul haleemul kareem. Subhanallahe rabbil arshil azeem, wal hamdu lillahi rabbil alameen. Asaluka moojibati rahmateka wa aza-ema maghfirateka wal ghaneemata min kulle birrin was- salaamata min kulle ithmin la tada' lee zamban illa ghafartahu wa la hamman illa farrajtahu wala haajatan hiya laka ridhan illa qadhaitaha ya arhamar-rahemeen."

(There is no god save Allah, the clement, the Bountiful. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Magnificent Throne. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds! I beg of Thee the causes entailing Thy mercy and the purposes of (securing) Thy pardon gains from every righteousness and safeguard from every sin. Leave no sin of mine unforgiven, no anxiety unrelieved and no need of mine, where Thou art pleased, unfulfilled. O Thou, the most Merciful of those who show mercy!)
