1. I don't think there is one. If you're just trying to pick a similar sounding English name to give to English speaking friends for ease of conversation, then maybe Terry (works for males or females) or Star (cute name for a female only).

  2. There isn't really an English equivalent. You're correct that the surname means 'from Csatár'. The origin of the name of the town is disputed: some sources derive it from a Slavic (or Slavic-derived Hungarian) word meaning 'shieldmakers', while others say the evidence for this word is uncertain, and derive the placename instead from a "native" or "secular" masculine name (recorded in 1211 in a Latin document as "Chatar, filius Emrici", meaning Csatár, Emeric's son). Many Hungarian placenames have similar derivations from unmodified men's names. The name probably had its origins in an everyday word (the same way that 'Heather' and 'Violet' are both names and words), but we don't know for sure what that word meant. It definitely didn't have the word's modern meaning of 'skirmisher, light troops', because that's a 19th century neologism, and it certainly didn't have the word's other modern meaning of 'soccer or basketball forward' (or other similar sports positions).

  3. as a word it means the following

    figment, battle, set-to

but as a surname am not sure :)

  4. I do believe that Csatári means "From a place called Csatár" otherwise, I don't know. Sorry.
