I have no idea what the GMAT is! Is it like a general ability test? And also when are you supposed to take it: in year 12 or while you're in university?

Thanks!

  1. When you take the test depends on when you apply to B-school. GMAT scores are good for 5 years (I believe). Most business schools like  applicants to have some work experience under their belts, so in the case of someone who is going to work for 3 or 4 years, you would not need to take the test during undergrad.

That being said, if you have time to prepare during college, you might as well get it out of the way; the subjects covered on the test will probably be fresher in your mind, depending on your major, than if you took the test a couple years out of college.

  2. the gmat is a test that will get you into graduate school for business. it is the sat on steroids!!!

  3. if you ever heard of lsat for law school and mcats for med school well the gmat is for business school. you take it when you are in college, mainly junior or senior year because you use it to get into a school to get your mba or masters in a business field.
