I've heard of it, but otherwise know little about it. I do know it is an ability test(?) along with the SAT and ACT.

What is it?

What is its importance?

Thanks.

  1. It's like the SATs, but for admission to graduate school (for a masters or PhD) instead of undergraduate.  It has the same basic sections, but the math is typically a bit easier and the reading comprehension more difficult and more expected from the writing section.

  2. Graduate Record Exam. It's like the SAT but for people who will be applying to graduate school. See: http://www.ets.org/portal/site/ets/menui...

  3. The Graduate Record Examinations® (GRE®) General Test measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and critical thinking and analytical writing skills. The GRE® Subject Tests gauge undergraduate achievement in 8 specific fields of study.

  4. Graduate Record Examination. Similar to SAT/ACT, but for grad school, as mentioned above. I thought it was harder than the ACT, although the math was not too bad. The language section was a lot harder!  A good score can help you get into your grad school of choice.
