    beer,sauerkraut,sausage,schnaps consumer

  9. Personally i wouldn't care what the stereotype is if i was you as most if not all stereotypes are false and unfair.

But since you asked, in the UK it is that you are generally big (in both height and weight senses) and hairy. However as i said i wouldn't take this too seriously.

And as far as what you do my personal stereotype for that in Germany is that most people have professional office jobs or are in the general service sector

  10. Precision, exactness, order, courteousness and like to eat pork-products and potatoes. Excellent beer by the way! ;)

  11. Germans are all fat men in leather shorts who drink lager while listening to oom-pah bands.

  12. 99 red balloons and underarm hair.  as for the men, Fawlty Towers anyone?

  13. I'm German and live in the US, so I always wonder about this too. And it doesn't really help that I have blonde hair and blue eyes...

About German humor...I think most people just don't understand our humor. If you understand German humor, we don't seem like boring, rigid people. We can be very silly if we want to. Other countries just don't really get us :)

  14. When on holiday the germans pinch all the sunbeds, get all the best rooms, and the girls have hairy armpits and hairy legs.

  15. On holiday you get up at the crack of dawn to put your towels on the best sunloungers, but don't use them for about 4 hours!

  16. Deutsche grundlichkeit.

  17. When I met Germans as I was travelling throught New Zealand, the stereotype was that Germans did not have a sense of humour and spoke with rough accents.  You are also considered highly industrious and very serious.

Having said that, my impression of the Germans I met was one that was generally favourable.  They were always dependable and helpful.  I enjoyed being around them and have kept up correspondence with a number of them.

  18. when i see white large man or woman with staring eyes i, the first thing comes to mind is GERMAN..

  19. On my first visit to Germany, I noticed that there is a starkness about the place.  The public spaces were full of people with blank expressions.  Not much smiling or chatting.  Very subdued.  However, the family that we were visiting are lovely people.  They come to the US  quite often.  But, overall, Germans seem to be very serious and conservative.  Perhaps that is why there is a large consumption of beer.   It helps them to lighten up.

  20. hahahahaha (that called laughing) thought i might have to explain it to the dry hairy germans reading!!!!

  21. Well, this is just a stereotype. So I don't believe it. But Germans usually have red hair, freckles, and do lots of folk dancing. I don't believe that... but that's the stereotype. What about Americans?

  22. I never heard one from the USA, but all our soldiers are falling in love with Germany, and want to go back.

    Your doing something right.

  23. always closing windows and shouting 'es zieht' (afraid of catching a cold)
