Glory means, brightness, clearness from this it has become something that is strived for.  For someone or something toachieve glory it is honorable.  The glory of God is essential and easily seen. By this I mean his character is that of such that he is glorious.  Therefore demanding honor, respect admiration, and worship. His perfection shows his glory and all who can recognize it know that only a bright clear being would be able to accomplish such glory.

Glory, in a nutshell is the ability, propensity, drive, desire and authority to fulfill purpose. It encompasses the available resources, infrastructure and administrative capacities that make up the power that backs up the authority to fulfill that purpose. The more of these resources one has available, the more they are able to accomplish, the more glorious they are. Now God has infinite ability, propensity, drive, desire, authority, resources infrastructure etc. God is so full of all these things that He Himself is His Glory for in Him are found the answers to all questions, solutions to ALL problems, Power that knows no defeat and excellency of rule. The Sovereign God of absolutes who speaks things into existence.

According to Jesus, glorifying God means doing EVERYTHING that He sent us out to do... in other words, fulfilling His purpose - whether in our lives, in our communities, in our homes, our families, careers, our finances... every area in our lives. So the challenge comes... Whose purpose is being fulfilled in our lives? Is it God's?

In what sense? You could be talking about God as He Is, the great Eternal Creator and Source of all. In that sense, it is the Presence of God Himself, the Shekinah, the cloud of fire that Is.

When we do things "for the Glory of God" we do them in response to what He Who Is has done for us by saving us, transforming us, forgiving us and loving us even before we were aware He existed. This is not an attempt to make brownie points with Him (or shouldn't be, since He already Is everything He needs to be--we can only give Him back what we have recieved)--it is the natural outflowing response of love and gratitude.
