    I believe you mean Cyclone Nargis.  Cyclone & Hurricane are the same thing - different words used depending on where it is.  This particular cyclone hit the Asian country of Myanmar (used to be called Burma).  Because the government is a dictatorship (military junta), the people of Myanmar were not adequately notified of the impending hit and were not prepared for it. This occurred this past Sunday (May 4th).   It was a powerful cyclone and it killed 22,000 people (latest count) and left close to a million more without shelter, water or food.  It is a horrifying tragedy, and what is even sadder is that it is difficult for the international community to intervene with aid because the government is so closed and won't accept the aid.  I hope that changes soon.
