I am currently working in a job where I have to separate my own taxes from my paycheck weekly. I live in NE Ohio, and I make $420.00 dollars a week. I started this job in June of 08 and will be continuing (hopefully) to work here through the end of the taxable year.

How much of that $420.00 dollars should I be putting away weekly so that I can have my taxes ready to be paid at the end of the year? I have been putting away about 30% of each paycheck, but if thats too much, I'd love to be able to take some back as a cushion with gas what it is right now.

  1. Go to both USA.gov and Ohio.gov, Taxation.  Take tax rate with your number of dependents, Multiple tax rate for exact number of weeks from start date to end of year. Add state, federal rates together.  Subtract total taxes will be owed out of income, convert to 00% like you did to get 30%..Subtract that amount from your $420.  Make an edeposit online from your MY Yahoo space into your bank or set  it up and auto deduction at your bank.  Please stay on top of this.  It can ruin alot of plans by not keeping your tax bill paid..

  2. 4.2%
