  1. I've never heard of such a thing.

  2. Hi =]

It has been scientifally proven that sleeping on your stomach is unhealthy for the human body. In terms of religion, the Prophet Mohammed said that it is best to sleep on your 'right' side. And also, the devil is supposedly have been sleeping on you if you sleep on your tummy =0 !!

Also - Why you shouldn't sleep on your stomach:

    For Islamic reasons:

So .. please... don't sleep on your tummy for many reasons.

    Hope this helped =D

    Roah

  3. The reason for this is that it was forbidden by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who left no good thing but he told us about it and left no evil thing but he warned us against it. Ya’eesh ibn Tihfah al-Ghifaari reported that his father said: “I stayed as a guest with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with those of the poor whom he hosted. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out in the night to check up on his guests, and saw me lying on my stomach. He prodded me with his foot and said, ‘Do not lie in this manner, for it is a way of lying that Allah hates.’” According to another report, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prodded him with his foot and woke him up, and said, “Do not lie like this, for this is how the people of h**l lie.”

From personal experience, I used to sleep on my stomach when I was younger and overtime I would wake up in the morning with back aches in the lower back. Once I corrected this, it stopped.

Try sleeping on your right side, I noticed I sleep much less and wake up less tired. I believe sleeping on your left causes excess pressure on the heart, causing you to sleep longer.

    And Allah knows best.

  4. They would frown on me. That's the only way I've slept since I was a tiny baby.

  5. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) ordered us not to sleep on our bellies (face down).  Abu Dawood  reported from  Yaesh  that  Takhfa al-Ghafari  said: "My father said 'while I was lying on my belly in the mosque I felt a person moving me with his foot saying: "Allah hates this way of lying down" I looked up to find out that (the man who was speaking) was the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam)" .

Some scholars state that it is dislikable to sleep on the belly.

al-Tirmizi also reported from Abu Hurairah that he said: "The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) saw a man lying on his belly he said to him: Allah does not like this form of lying down" . Ibn Majah reported from Abu Zar : "This is the way in which the dwellers of h**l-fire lie down" .

Ibn al-Qayyim said while talking about the medicine of the Prophet (p.b.u.h.): 'The best is to lie on the right side as this makes the food rest more comfortably in the stomach because the latter is inclined to the left. Then it is better to change to the left side as this makes the food get digested more quickly. But most sleeping should be on the right side… And it is bad to sleep on the back. But it is worse to sleep face down on the belly' .

So, sleeping on the belly is dislikable and can be harmful to health.

    Rest Allah knows the best~!

  6. It is very unhealthy..... i heard also when children are kept in this position they can die....

However i didnt know about this before and i used to do this and the result was frequent wet dreams..... those were really nightmares =[

  7. Salam for you. I never read a hadits about the prohibition to sleep on anyone's tummy.I read the hadits of Muhammad pbuh that he used to sleep slanting on the right side in order his liver do not be given heavy burden of the body.

I think the islamic reason for not sleeping on anyone's tummy logically is avoiding difficulty in breath because ,liver, lung and heart are under the burden of the body

  8. Agreed with Curious & Dawn.

  9. It's the way Shaitan sleeps...as far as i have heard. Plus that's not the way a Momin (True believer) sleeps. Sleep on your back, as you'll rest the same way in the qabr (grave). So start preparing. You never know when you'll depart. The invitation comes without telling. Also sleeping on your right side is beneficial. Also make sure, while sleeping, your feet are not facing the kaaba, and i won't tell you why, cuz it's pretty much common sense.

  10. not an Islamic reason rather than following Muhammad (pbuh), he was sleeping on his right side putting his hand under his cheek.

    SCIENTIFIC facts:

sleeping on the right/ left side with the hand under the cheek:

    1. organizes the heart pulses.

    2. permits the sleeper / asleep person to breath in very natural, perfect way.

but who sleeps on his tummy, suffers the following:

    1. temporal dyspnea

    2. his neck's vertebra get harmed and will have pains on the long term.

  11. Researchers now know that sleeping on the stomach raises the risk of SIDS sevenfold.

  12. its how de devil sleeps

  14. I've heard that apparently the devil sleeps like this and it's actually not good for you scientifically to sleep like that. You're putting too much pressure on your stomach! It's all your body weight on that little stomach!

It's best to sleep on your right side, because your liver is your heaviest organ and if you sleep on your left then it will cause you discomfort, because it's squishing your stomach.

    Hope that helped!
