  1. To give orders!

  2. The job duties of a king differ from country to country. In some cases the monarchy is to be nothing more than a figurehead. They are there for no other purpose than to look regal but they have no structured duties. In some cases the monarchy works with a civil government on a side by side basis and they help each other run the country. In some cases the monarchy has full power and it has full and total power. In this case the head of the monarchy is usually a dictator.

  3. In modern constitutional monarchies, the duty of a king is to reign, to be a symbol of the state and of his people (no longer subjects).  He may give his "assent" to legislation sent to him by Parliament or whatever sort of legislature they have in the kingdom but this is a mere formality.  He also appoints the Prime Minister - also a formality since the party's leader who won the elections is the one who will become the prime minster anyway.  Mostly his duties would be just symbolical in nature, just like the Presidents of some countries like Italy or Israel, for example.  This would be entirely different in absolute monarchies like Saudi Arabia where the king still rules and reigns supreme.

  4. Rule whatever he is King of. Keep peace between his country and everywhere else. Things like that

  5. Command.
