What is the Kyoto Accord?

I'm doing a school project on the Kyoto Accord and I'm wondering what it is. I have to find out three things: what kids can do to help America sign on, what adults can do, and what the government can do. If you leave info, please make sure it fits into one of the above categories. Thanks!

  1. The rich giving to the poor till they themselves become poor. Of course the internal power struggle between who has the most pull, may have a little to do with it. The relationship between International politics and politics is; politics.

  2. The Kyoto Accord is an international treaty whereby countries agree to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases they emit if their neighbors do likewise.

I cant do your research for you but this website is all about your topic:

  4. Consider printing this and taking it to your teacher. Your school project has an underlying assumption that the United States should ratify the Kyoto Protocols. When there is an underlying but unstated assumption to a question, the questioner gets the answer she or he wants to hear. The most famous of these is, "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?"

The drafters of the Kyoto Protocols used Global Warming and Greenhouse Gas Emissions as a vehicle for wealth redistribution. That is not my opinion, it is the openly stated purpose of the protocols. They are to "level the playing field" economically among many countries. Countries such as the United States, Japan, Germany, the UK, Italy, Spain and France (did you notice that all of them are Wetern capitalist democracies?) are to pay enormous sums of money to countries such as China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Syria, the Congo, North Korea and others (did you notice that they arre all totalitarian regimes? And that they all oppose both democracy and capitalism). The amount will be calculated based on greenhouse gas emissions. The fastest-growing emitters of greenhouse gasses (China and India) are exempted. Wonder why?

Kids, adults and the American government can all calculate how much money will be sent by whom, to whom, and then make a decision about whether this is a good thing. They can then (kids and adults) write to their Senators and Representatives about what they believe. The U.S. Government can follow Al Gore's advice when he was Vice President and refuse to ratify the protocols because they will do little if anything to affect global warming but just might bankrupt Western democracies. No kidding - when he was VP Al Gore was the strongest opponent of the Kyoto Protocols.

Reducing fossil fuel consumption is a GREAT idea without wondering whether Western democracies should make totalitarian regimes rich. It will reduce pollution, it will reduce dependence on foreign oil, and there are hundreds of other good reasons. Turn off lights when not using them, carpool, walk instead of drive when you can.

  5. Base your report on how it is a hoax and a way for other world governments to tax the americans.  The whole thing is a joke. But no matter how well your report is written, if you take this position you will fail.  Good Luck.

  6. The Kyoto Accord is a BS treaty that requires the US to do ALL of the heavy lifting with regard to the environment, allowing other countries to pollute as much as they like. That's why it was never ratified. Clinton only signed it because dem's think we need to pay some kind of 'reparations' to the rest of the world. Probably because we had the audacitty to drag the world out of the horse and buggy era.
