What is the Monopoly game board made out of ?

I was watching 1 vs 100 and they showed the question if he kept playing. They didnt show the choices or the answer. I was wondering what it was made out of.

checked all my monopoly games (china, hong kong, england, and classics) and they all look like cardboard laminated with a plastic coating.
