What is the Nashville music scene like?

Of course it is known for country, but are there some good local hard rock bands? Dance funk bands? Is the scence eclectic and open minded or are most of the people traditional and "rootsy"? every vid of Nashville bands on youtube is country or bluegrass style...with a few punk or metal bands sprinkled in.

there are all kinds of bands there. listen to music business radio online and you will learn a lot about the nashville scene.
