  1. If by African American you mean, an American of African decent.. then the percentage is quite low. If you meant to say 'black person' as in anyone with dark skin. Then the percentage is quite a bit higher

  2. what kind of question is that????

  3. That's a hard question to answer... We'd have to compare the  number of Black American Olympic athletes to the total number of athletes in the Olympics from all countries, regardless of their ethnic background.  It's just like asking what percentage of Olympic athletes are Asian-Canadian.

Of the the US population, African Americans make up about 20 percent. As for the ethnic breakdown of the US Olympic team- who knows- Maybe half?  But the whole point of the Olympic team is that everyone is simply American.

The US team is quite diverse, and while we send a large contingent of athletes, so do China and Russia.

With teams from the Caribean islands like Jamaica, Trinidad and Haiti, the Dominican Repulic, Cuba, Brazil, Great Britain and all over Africa, most black Olympic athletes aren't from the USA.

It would be easier to find out the percentage of the total participating athletes that the American team represents, since I don't think anyone keeps statistics on the ethnic background of the teams from all participating countries.

Remember, most of the world's population is of Asian and African descent.
