  1. Most of Australia is inhabited if you look at land that has a either a aboriginal community or been surveyed into blocks or leases or farms and have a have people living on those blocks, farms, stations, etc.

The only land uninhabited is therefore Crown Land that is not leased. There is not much of that. Even the Military leases like Woomera have towns and are therefore by definition populated even thou Woomera is a huge area.

However most people assume that Australia is uninhabited because they don't see lots of people or houses, but if you look at some aboriginal desert communities, they have a lot of land (some are bigger than Tasmania), but only a very small population concentrated in a small towns like Balgo etc.

The same with Stations (Ranches) a lot of area but a small population.

Just because you can't see anyone for miles doesn't mean that your not in someones back yard.

  2. DON'T KNOW...

  3. Mate heaps!!!!! well someone owns most of it,but when you got farms in the desert or should I say cattle stations(ranches)as big as some states in the US ,there ain't many people in that desert! That is why we got a big country and only 20.6 million people and I love it that way!

  4. probably around 80%

  5. Not sure about the percentage, but must be a lot....I once heard that Australia is the most urbanised country on Earth. 80% of the population live in the south eastern corner of the country and many of these are living along a coastal strip.
