  1. Most people visiting Place du Tertre and the basilica of the Sacré Coeur are tourists interested by the amazing view on Paris from the top of the Montmartre hill. Furthermore, Montmartre is well-known for its historical "village" spirit.

Unfortunately, Parisians rarely visit the area that they judge as fake. As a result, the area looks a bit as a theme park, with buildings and activities only dedicated to occasional visitors. To find a more genuine "village" spirit in Paris, it's probably better to visit downhill around rue des Abbesses and rue Lepic (metro stations Abbesses and Blanche), or even to visit rue Mouffetard in the 5th arrondissement or the Buttes aux Cailles in the 13th arrondissement.

  2. See above. Also, it is just next to the Sacré-Cœur church.

  3. ITS A SMALL SQUARE IN PARIS WHERE MANY ARTISTS SET UP THEIR EASELS AND  CREATE PAINTINGS FOR THE TOURISTS...THAT IS WHAT IT IS FAMOUS FOR...
