    In France, "province" applies to historic regions (or to refer to anything outside the Paris region), it is not used any more by the administration. Metropolitan France is divided into 22 'régions' themselves divided into a few 'départements' (95 total).

    Edit: In your other question you got two words confused: "province" and "Provence" (which is a province in southern France). This is why I didn't understand your question.
