  1. I agree with the previous answers. It's Haram .

I really don't believe that he can predict something, their predictions are generally false ,very few peope can do this by contacting with the other civilization which lives beyond our Physics - in Metaphysics (i don't know how it's called  in english , in my language they are called 'CIN').

But anyway its Haram for both the people who succeed it and the ones just trick themselves , and if i'm not mistaken it's haram to go to them and ask for prediction.

If that person is a Muslim , try explaining it as you explain it to yourself , but if that person is not Muslim or is Muslim but is so-so, then try other ways , maybe a Islamic scientist reads this topic and answers to you.

But remember: try avoiding listening to him when he predicts. And never ask him for it. I'm sure you will not.

    Good luck.

  2. If you mean astronomy it is not haram ,Im searching for the verse that I heard...

055.033 O ye assembly of Jinns and men! If it be ye can pass beyond the zones of the heavens and the earth, pass ye! not without authority shall ye be able to pass!

Al-Qur'an, 055.033 (Ar-Rahman [The Beneficent, The Mercy Giving])

In another tafseer of Quran   بِسُلْطَانٍ  means with science

And Logically God produced the heavens as an sign for his lord so it makes atheists believe in God when they see universe .

  3. Happily Happy: Space is not part of the unseen. I can see it through a telescope. Your logic fails.

  4. There are two related terms that are often confused with one another, astronomy and astrology. Astronomy refers to the science that is concerned with the observation of the motions of heavenly bodies and reducing these observations to mathematical order, while astrology refers to the study of the supposed effects the movements of these celestial bodies have on human affairs.

According to jurists, it is lawful to study astronomy, for it is useful in predicting the beginning of months and seasons, determining the direction of Prayer, and navigating. They agree that this branch of science be used in determining the beginning and end of the month of Ramadan. As for astrology, this is haram (unlawful) and nothing but lies. The Unseen is known only by Almighty Allah.

  5. In everything there is the good and the bad. In some the bad outweigs the good. Astrology or the other derivitives of foretelling were brought down to earth by two angles Haruth and Maruth (check it up in the index of the Quraan) for good reasons but people began to use it for the wrong reasons. In many ways it is accurate but when it comes to people with faith then they are beyound this. It is dangerous to follow asterology because one begins to depend on it and looses faith in Allah. The Arabs used to predict with accuracy wheather a camel was going to bare a male or a female calf. The Prophet (SAW) broke this tradition and proved it wrong. When they predicted that it would bare a certain gender he said that it would not and when the calf was born it was the Prophet (SAW) who was right. Read also Al Hadis for this tridition.

  6. It is haram.

“Say: None in the heavens and the earth knows the Ghayb (Unseen) except Allaah”[al-Naml 29:65]

al-Bukhaari (801) and Muslim (104) from Zayd ibn Khaalid al-Juhani who said: “The Messenger of Allaah SAWs (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) led us in praying Fajr at al-Hudaybiyah, following rainfall during the night. When he had finished praying, he turned to the people and said, ‘Do you know what your Lord has said?’ They said, ‘Allaah and His Messenger know best.’ He said, ‘This morning one of My slaves became a believer in Me and one became a disbeliever. As for the one who said, “We have been given rain by virtue of Allaah and His mercy,” he is a believer in Me and a disbeliever in the stars. But as for the one who said, “We have been given rain by such and such a star,” he is a disbeliever in Me and a believer in the stars.’” So the one who attributes rain to the stars is saying that the stars caused the rain.

narrated by Abu Dawood in his Sunan with a saheeh isnaad from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever learns anything of astrology has learned a branch of witchcraft (al-sihr)…”

al-Bazzaar narrated with a jayyid isnaad from ‘Imraan ibn Husayn that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “He is not one of us who practises augury or has it done for him, who tells fortunes or has his fortune told, or who practises witchcraft or has that done for him.”
