  1. Yes - its the 'Node of Ranvier'  - where the axon has no myelin sheath - the nervous impulse passes from node to node in what is known as 'Saltatory Conduction'


  2. The Nodes of Ranvier are the gaps (about 1 micrometer in diameter) formed between myelin sheath cells along axons or nerve fibers.

    They enable an action potential passing down the axons to jump from Node to Node (Saltatory Conduction) thus speeding up the impulse.

  3. i cant remember 100%...but i think the nodes of ranvier are parts of the neuron which isnt covered by the myelin sheath or schwann cell....

    its where the nerve impules jump along the neuron, its involved in the travel of nerve impulses
