  1. raverly.com is a great site for patterns.

Like the first commenter said, just knit big squares and sew them together. Garter stitch is probably the easiest stitch to use.

  2. go to lionsbrand.com it has lot and lots of patterns.

  3. i learned how to knite when i was 11

    i personally

wouls use one of those really thick kniting needles

since they would be faster and ud get more done

  4. the simplest way to knit a blanket would be to use super bulky yarn with size 15 needles and work in garter stitch.

  5. See if you can get 10mm or 12mm needles.  Sorry, I don't know the US sizes for those; you can check a conversion chart.  Then, take two strands of worsted weight yarn (like Red Heart Classic or the Caron Pounder) and run them together.  Knit them as though they are one strand of yarn.  Get two colors that work well together, of course, either two solid colors or a solid and a variegated.

With these large needles, you'll need to cast on about 100 (on 12mm needles) or 120 (on 10mm needles) stitches.  Keep your tension correct -- neither too tight nor too loose -- and this should suit you well.  Knit across and knit back; yep, garter stitch.  Be sure you always catch both strands of yarn in each stitch.  (It'll likely become automatic after 20 or 30 rows.)   Keep going until your blanket is long enough, then cast off.  Be sure not to pull too tightly on your casting off, or your blanket will be lopsided.

  6. I am just learning to knit and so I'm a beginner too and was looking around and it seems the best route to go is to knit squares first and then stitch the squares together. I'm going to start my first blanket tonight or tomorrow : D

Also its not knitting but check out "Granny Squares" those are crotcheted typically but seem just as easy and very cute and colorful : )

  7. I would knit 3, 4 or more long strips and then sew or crochet

them together. Within the strip you can change colors or

just stay with one color altogether. This way you can make it

as long and as wide as you like and it does not get so boring and not so many pieces to put together either.  When the pieces are gathered, crochet all around the blanket. That

gives it a nice finish. If you are very ambitious, this way you

can make  for example  a beautiful Tartan Blanket. For that you may want to lay out your colors on some graph paper.

    Have fun.
