The Nissan 240sx is the U.S.A version of the s13. The s13 is the first generation of the 240sx and they were made from 1989 to 1994 and they come in Hatchback, Fastback, Coupe, and Convertible. The s14 is the second generation and they were made from 1995 to 1998 and they only came in Coupe. There was no s15 240sx, there was only an s15 Silvia. The engines come in KA24E and KA24DE not KA20.

S13 is the generation name, not the actual cars name. It is like a nickname to let people know which body design of the 240sx you have.

It is called the Nissan 240sx everywhere, even in Japan.

The S15 is the last generation of 240sx, which they did not sell in the U.S.

Just like the current VW GTI is the MKV, The older one was called the MKIV. The mid-late 90s GTI was called the MKIII, etc.

S13 is the chassis code for the 89-94 Silvia (coupe/convertible) and 89-97 180sx (fastback) in Japan. In the US, all 3 models (coupe, convertible and fastback) were named 240sx. The numerical name comes from the top of the line engines for each region. the US received the KA24DE non turbo and Japan received the CA18DET in the 180sx and the SR20DET in the Silvia

The s13 is known as the silvia s13 also the 180sx and known also as the 240sx as well as the 200sx.

the 240sx version came with a na engine,against the non turbo and single turbo engine sold elsewhere.

The Turbo version was dropped in the US due to poor sales and at that time the US Market wasn't fans of turbo's and enjoyed na power.

So the 2.4l engines where added and the cars became the 240sx.

Myself owned a UK spec 200sx s13  which is the 180sx which had a CA18DET engine,these later changed in Japan to the sr engines and in the s14 s14a and the s15 models which came later.

Also the s13 shares parts with the Nissan Skyline R32 model and parts match between the models.

Myself have owned both the s13 and the r32 and they do feel and drive like each other apart from the Skyline power.
