  1. Hostile ROUGH place

    black holes

    explosions

BIG asteroids crashing into something every second..

  2. we KNOW it is a hostile place. The big bang was so powerful there would be no point in trying ot comprehend it. The next most powerful thing is a GRB, gamma ray burst, will happen in a few milliseconds to a few hundred seconds, and in that time, it will produce more energy than the entire universe does in the same amoun of time. And for humans to produce the same amount of energy that the sun does in one second, each human will have to produce the same amount of energy as 30 million hoover dams. The list just goes on and on and on. It is by far NOT a peaceful place.

  3. Hostile, everything that is bad on earth is like times 100 in space.

  4. To me the universe is a place that should be explored, colonies on other worlds, asteroid mining, moon factories(shipyards for large spaceships), sure there will be dangers but stepping out of the shower in the morning is dangerous as well, fortune favours the bold, there can be no reward without risk, N.A.S.A. is a fine little group of semi-serious space explorers, sure they went to the moon and sent probes to other planets and beyond the solar system, don't get me wrong i still think N.A.S.A. has a lot of contributions to make to science but N.A.S.A. has lost there spirit of exploration, a shadow of there former greatness, now they risk assess everything until it can't be risk assessed anymore then they scrap the idea, i understand that there budget isn't as big as it was back in the 60's & 70's so they throw out perfectly good idea's because they can't afford them, that's what happened with N.A.S.A.'s TransHab project and now Bigelow Aerospace owns the rights to build them and there in the business of building space hotels, i personally think people need to stand up and say "Hey listen we have become sheep when it comes to space exploration, we need to be the wolves and not the sheep", but everyone is so wrapped up in their own little 9-5 lives that nobody cares anymore.

  5. since a virus is the most likely and abundant thing, I would have to say that it is hostile and survival of the fittest, otherwise if it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little.

  6. Could be either, both or neither depending on your relative view point.

It's definitely "hostile" to individual lives and  the human species as a whole once our sun goes Red Giant or even long before if our species dies out, as I expect it will.

I think WE can still be calm and peaceful if we can accept that .

Other than our perceptions about it's nature, I don't think it's "about" us one way or another. It just IS.

The concepts you put forth are only relative to their "creators"....who are us. We're part of the universe and we can learn much "about" it but I don't think we can really ever "define" it.

  7. It is both. A soul making machine that refines and teaches each one.

Each one must learn to 'overcome' their world.

Overcome this prison of a world ruled by serpents. Overcome materialism. Overcome your prison of flesh and all its hardwiring to fall into temptation. Overcome sin. Overcome hubris and humble yourself. Overcome hate and learn to love your fellow man including your enemies. Overcome selfishness and help the less fortunate, sick, handicapped, elderly, abused, thirsty, hungry, tired, lost, etc.

Overcome all fear especially fear of death.

If you overcome these things and believe that Yeshua Ha' Mashiach (Jesus) came in the flesh to wash away your sins with His precious innocent blood, then you will break out of your earthly and flesh bonds to be in the presence of the Father in Heaven. Repentance is key, but you must overcome as well.

  8. Lots and lots of explosions. Awesome.

  9. It is calm and peaceful, but with occasional accidents.  In one hundred years ye shall all know of what I speak.

Black holes do not exist, mathmatically or otherwise

    The "Big Bang" never happened:

  10. Just stay away from the violent stuff, like supernovas, black hole accretion disks, and neutron stars collapsing into quark stars, etc., and you should be OK. It was pretty tranquil in my back yard this afternoon, with a nice breeze and some chirping birds.
