What is the Usb port on the back of my DIRECTV reciever for? Or how do i play my ipod through my TV?

  1. its to connect to your Internet network and can be substituted for the phone line fee that they charge you if its not connected to a land based phone line. it also gives you access to the " dish on-line" features that are in the main menu. last time i looked there was a selection of about 600 down loadable movies, that you can record. alot of really old ones there starting out at $ 1.99. as far as the ipod goes it will connect to the TV, not the sat rec. ( if that's what you meant) you need a cord that has the head phone style jack on one end and a  two audio connectors on the other end, (one is red and the other is white) just plug it in to an open a/v input on the back, if your TV has one.......OOPPPSSS  you said directv,sorry, i didn't read your question very well, never mind, I'm still sending this though ,in case it helps someone else, plus it took me about half an hour to peck this out, i don't wanna delete all my hard work
