  1. from 100 lbs to 117lbs for a older rider....

pincay rode at 117lbs for 10 years!!!

  2. It depends entirely on the race and the style of racing.

An average flat jockey will weigh about 8 stone (112lbs), whereas a jump jockey will weigh about 9-10 stone (126-140lbs).  National Hunt (jump) horses carry more weight than flat horses, so the jockeys can get away with weighing more.

Tony McCoy (current reigning Champion jump jockey in GB) rides at a minimum weight of 10st 3 (143lbs).

  3. it could be any weight. At some tracks and higher level races there is a weight limit and that weight limit is 115 pounds.

  4. The average weight for a jockey is 112lbs.

  5. Depends on the weight given to the horse... most horses run at about 56-58 kg here in Aust... but can recieve more weight... a good jockey's weight will never exceed 52-53kg....

  6. it depends on the race or the level of races the jockey rides in.  They usually ahve to stay around 115.  The younger jockeys need to be less than that or if you're doing claiming races only you'd need to be less than 112.  If you're doing stakes races only, you can probably afford to be a little bigger... but all jockeys would be under 120.

  7. i started riding at 103 as a apprentice then rode at 110 for years. the central northern states are different you can ride at any weight you want as long as your a good rider 115-135

  8. anything below 110 is great
