I'm not necessarily asking this question from a Christian perspective. I just wondered. Appreciate any straightforward answers. Thanks to all who reply.

  1. I cannot speak from a Wiccan perspective, but I am pagan.

I am confused as to how contraception can be seen as immoral. <shrug>

I have no problem at all with either concept, firmly believing that it is an individuals' right to choose.

  2. Wicca doesn't have doctrine relating to those things. Wicca is a not a religion with a list of do's and do not's nor do we have high up clergy that tell us how to think or act on such issues.

However, Wicca does have the Wiccan Rede which states; An it harm none, do as you will, and Wicca is a religion that places heavy emphasis on personal responsibility. We have other ethical guidelines as well. Each Wiccan must make decisions about things like abortion on their own.

I can not speak for all Wiccans, but I believe strongly in contraception and practicing s*x s*x as well as educating young people about safe s*x and contraception. Minimizing harm and taking responsibility means that I should be responsible with my body and be responsible for my actions. Most Wiccans that I know feel the same though I do not speak for all. On the issue of abortion I am pro-choice. I do not personally like abortion and I wish that it was never necessary (I know no one that feels differently) but I also do not believe that I or anyone else have the right to decide what a woman does with her own uterus. I believe in a woman's right to choose. I believe that to restrict a woman's access to safe abortions, contraceptives, and education about sexually transmitted diseases does far more harm than good.

  3. Wicca is a religion, not a political movement.

Therefore, it has beliefs about responsibility and life, rather than telling Wiccans how to vote.

  4. There is no one answer.  Wicca is not a dogmatic religion; believers are encouraged to find their own spiritual answers.  Therefore, the range of answers to this question will mirror the range of answers you would get from any group of people.

In general, I think Wiccans support contraception.  Very few religions forbid any contraception, and I personally have never met a Wiccan opposed to it.  Abortion is a more complicated issue, and there you'll find the disagreements.

  5. I may be totally wrong on the following assumptions.  If I am then I deeply apologize but after looking at your question and frankly, your avatar, they lead me to assume the following:

Due to the phrasing of the question and the abrupt manner of it I assume you are christian.

Seeing the flag in the back round of your avatar, I am assuming that you are conservative.

So I ask myself,  why is a conservative christian asking this type of question on YA?

Answer... they are looking for ways to point at my beliefs to say... See I told you... these people are immoral, wicked devil worshipers who are out to destroy all us good loving christians!

Like I said  before... if I am wrong I apologize.  But I have been attacked too many times on this forum by fundys.  Sorry but it is how I tend to react to questions like this now.

  6. Wow.  Can you please explain what you possibly mean by "morality of contraception"?

How can contraception be "immoral?"  Help!
