  1. In short, like the very first post said "finishing" is scoring.

Not "coming in to the back line when needed" or anything else that has been said. It means scoring tries.

Rokokoko, Habana, J.K, Shane Williams, Cullen, WIlson, Lomu...Just to name a few ( and a vey biased few at that haha) are all great finishers.

  2. Being able to "finish" is to finish moves; score tries etc

As a winger, its less about physicality, and more of a mental game. You should learn how to feign your way around players, how to sidestep, what angles to run at and so on

  3. to understand the term 'to finish' you really only need to watch shane williams in this years 6 nations grand slam ! any match will do and you can see one of the best players in the world at the moment finishing with pure class time and time again !

i also agree with the coment below in that to improve it is to concentrate on the mental side of the game and it will inevitably come with experience !

  4. As the above said, but also it is the ability to be moving with the back line and knowing when you need the ball.  ie the defense has been moved to one side of the field leaving a side open.  A winger should be able to finish, but he/she should never be at that finish line on their own.  Rugby is a team sport and another back should be on your tail at the try line.
